Panasonic has introduced the latest iteration of its semi-rugged laptop, the Toughbook 55 Mark 3, catering to professionals engaged in on-site inspections, infrastructure management, and emergency response. Offering multiple configuration options, the key highlights include the incorporation of 13th-generation Intel processors, featuring a choice between the Core i5-1345U and the Core i7-1370P.
Users can customize the laptop with 2 DIMMs of user-upgradable RAM (16-64GB of DDR4-3200MHz) and a main OPAL NVMe SSD (512GB to 2TB). The 14” display comes in two resolutions - 1,366 x 768px or 1,920 x 1,080px, both with touch capability. The higher-resolution touch panel boasts a peak brightness of 1,000 nits and anti-reflective, and anti-glare coatings.
While categorized as "semi-rugged," the Toughbook 55 Mark 3 demonstrates substantial ruggedness, being rated for drops up to 3’ (MIL-STD-810H), along with resistance to shock, vibration, altitude, freeze/thaw, and temperature shock. The device is also rated IP53 for dust and water resistance, featuring a main SSD with a heater for operation in extra cold environments.
The laptop offers advanced connectivity with a Thunderbolt 4 port, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 support, and xPAK modules. The xPAK modules provide three expansion slots for various modules, allowing professionals to add serial and LAN ports, a fingerprint reader, barcode reader, smart card reader, optical drives, additional SSDs, and even a second battery for extended battery life.
Equipped with a loud 92dB Waves MaxxAudio speaker system, dual-array mics with AI noise reduction, and an array of integrated options including a gigabit Ethernet port, dual-SIM connectivity, dedicated GPS receiver, and infrared camera, the Toughbook 55 Mark 3 is designed to meet the diverse needs of professionals. The keyboard is spill-resistant, and the display features a raised bezel for protection.
Panasonic has made the Toughbook 55 Mark 3 with Core i7 processors available in North America, with the i5 version slated for release in February 2024.
